For some reason, when I cook at home, I have a much more difficult time stopping myself from eating too much. Well, actually, I have a difficult time stopping myself most of the time. Hmmmmm... I think it's because I'm so upset that they did away with my Dawn Wash N' Toss. I really can't believe it.
At least I ate something healthy for dinner.
In case you did not get this, apparently http://www.sparkpeople.com/ is a good website for helping track calories. You have to register for the website, but it is free. I also forwarded everyone another website that has the calories for several establishments.
In closing, I think you are right Katie about stopping eating when you are about a 5 on the fullness scale. Good advice.

Another benefit to our program!
Katie, I am sorry you were hungry last night. I am always starving in the early evening too. I am going to plan a high-protein snack into my late afternoon today to see if that will help me not be so miserable in the early evening. I think I will try a couple tablespoons of peanut butter. That has been a good appetite suppressant for me in the past.
I think this program is going to be a good one because it sounds as if each of us is trying something different. I think it will be beneficial to compare notes and see which things work for each of us.
I decided to plan out my diet for the day today to see if that helps with my snacking problem.
At least we are all healthier than we were before we started this plan!

Chicken Tortilla Soup
I want to share a yummy recipe with you guys! I made this chicken tortilla soup tonight, and it was scrumptious! I served it with a little bit of monterey jack cheese, baked tortilla chips, light sour cream and chopped green onions.
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Prep Time: 20 MinutesCook Time: 20 Minutes
Ready In: 40 MinutesYields: 8 servings
"This soup is quick to make, flavorful, and filling! Serve with warm corn bread or tortillas. This also freezes well. Garnish with chopped fresh avocado, Monterey Jack cheese, crushed tortilla chips, or green onion!"
INGREDIENTS:
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 (28 ounce) can crushed
tomatoes
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed
chicken broth (I doubled the chicken broth because it wasn't very soupy)
1 1/4 cups water
1 cup whole corn kernels,
cooked
1 cup white hominy
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green
chile peppers (I doubled the green chiles, too)
1 (15 ounce) can black beans,
rinsed and drained
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (I didn't have this, but it was good without it)
2 boneless chicken breast
halves, cooked and cut into bite
-sized pieces (I shredded it instead)
crushed tortilla chips
sliced avocado
shredded Monterey Jack
cheese
chopped green onions
DIRECTIONS:
1.
In a medium stock pot, heat oil over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic in oil until soft. Stir in chili powder, oregano, tomatoes, broth, and water. Bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
2.
Stir in corn, hominy, chiles, beans, cilantro, and chicken. Simmer for 10 minutes.
3.
Ladle soup into individual serving bowls, and top with crushed tortilla chips, avocado slices, cheese, and chopped green onion.

Day 4 - Kate
Might I suggest a tasty snack for my fellow competitors?! The mini rice-cake Quaker snacks are yum, yum, yummy! I've now tried the chocolate, the cheddar and the multi-grain graham cracker flavors. They're only 60-70 calories per serving. Scrumptious!

Great Idea!
This is a fabulous idea! I have not actually weighed again since initial weigh-in but feel good about my progress. I did not starve myself but ate more healthily yesterday than I have been eating! I also wrote my weight loss letter and plan to write a letter each day. I did my therapy excercises but want to walk before it gets too cold tonight! Good luck everyone.
Day One - Kate
I am trying to focus on making better food choices. I weighed at Mom's today, and I am 5.5 pounds lighter than I was at our original weigh-in! Hooray!
Welcome!
